Even at 80 minutes, the movie is much less of a sensory assault than a slog, as eyes and thoughts shortly acclimatize to its ostensibly alienating photos. On the threat of sounding like a philistine, shouldn’t a movie costarring a neon-orange Travis Scott smoking a blunt on a speedboat filled with mercenaries in demon masks be, properly, extra enjoyable?
Aggro Dr1ft’s post-movie ambitions might in the end be vindicated, if solely by default. As of this writing, it has not secured a standard distributor, and rumors abound that Korine might distribute the movie himself, through the EDGLRD web site. (It’ll actually play higher streaming inside a classic RealPlayer window, or projected on a wall of a nightclub throughout a rave fueled by sketchy ecstasy, or tub salts.)
“The previous world is over,” BO declares early on. Possibly he, and Korine, are proper. Possibly the flicks are on life assist, slogging by way of some lengthy interregnum, ready for some new, contemporary kind to interchange it. However Aggro Dr1ft isn’t it.
